CDP Meeting with the Minister of State Reform in Stockholm

Minister Gonçalo Saraiva Matias met in Stockholm with the Portuguese scientific community and the CDP, highlighting the role of the Diaspora in driving reforms and strengthening Portugal’s global connections.

On September 12, the Minister of State Reform, Gonçalo Saraiva Matias, met in Stockholm with members of the Portuguese scientific community on the occasion of the SPOT Nordic Think Tank – a foundation that brings together Portuguese academics and scientists working across the Nordic countries.

During the meeting, Councillor Paula da Silva (Sweden) had the opportunity to speak with the Minister about the role of the Portuguese Diaspora as an active force in advancing reforms in Portugal. The discussion particularly emphasized the initiative “Creation of a Unified Application System for Portuguese Universities,” led by the Eastern Europe Regional Hub of the CDP.

The meeting also underscored the importance of expanding the CDP’s geographical presence in 2025, with the appointment of the first Councillor in the Nordic countries and the establishment of new connections with Portuguese communities in the region.

This event reinforces the crucial role of Portuguese communities abroad and highlights the CDP network’s contribution to shaping public policies that strengthen the bond between Portugal and the world.
