On October 17, the Portuguese Diaspora Council held another Diaspora Conversation, featuring Dr. António Rios Amorim, President and CEO of Corticeira Amorim.

Moderated by Eng. António Calçada de Sá, President of the Council’s Board and Vice President of Fundación Repsol, the conversation was an inspiring moment of sharing, leadership, and global vision, centred on the story of a company that has become a symbol of Portugal’s capacity to innovate and compete internationally.

The discussion covered the transformation of Corticeira Amorim from a family business into a global reference, from the internationalization process that began in the 1980s to the current focus on research and innovation to explore new cork applications—ranging from the aerospace sector to footwear, mobility, and sustainability.

In closing, Dr. Rios Amorim shared a message that captured the spirit of the session:
