On April 24th, the 2025 General Meeting of the Portuguese Diaspora Council took place in the Sala do Futuro at the Cascais Town Hall.
The session was led by João Pedro Taborda, a member of the Board, representing José Manuel Durão Barroso, President of the General Meeting. The proceedings began with a presentation of the 2024 activity report by the President of the Board, António Calçada de Sá. With the favorable opinion of the Sole Auditor and the support of the Councilors and Young Councilors, in person and remotely, the 2024 financial report, as well as the 2025 activity plan and budget, were unanimously approved.
At the end of the meeting, a cocktail reception was held in the Salão Nobre of the Town Hall, attended by the Honorable Mayor of Cascais, Carlos Carreiras, and representatives of The Lakhani Group, sponsor of the Portuguese Diaspora Council.

On September 21, members of the CDP’s U.S. Regional Hub attended a reception for the President of Portugal, highlighting the country’s role on the international stage and fostering networking among the Portuguese community and UN representatives.

António Calçada de Sá and members of the CDP’s Spain Regional Hub attended the 25th anniversary celebration of the Nueva Economía Fórum in Madrid, presided over by King Felipe VI, where European Council President António Costa received the Fórum Europa 2025 Award.

During the official visit of the Prime Minister to China, the Minister of Economy met with Advisor Carlos Álvares to explore cooperation opportunities and promote the Greater Bay Area as a strategic platform for Portuguese companies.
