Afonso Loureiro holds a degree in Economics from the Faculty of Economics at the University of Coimbra (1997), and later completed the Advanced Management Program at Católica Lisbon and Kellogg School of Management (2012). He is a member of the Mozambican Association of Economists.

He began his career at Caixa Geral de Depósitos and was Chief Financial Officer in the Construction and Public Works sector, before joining Visabeira in Mozambique, where he served as a Board Member between 2007 and 2014. He was also a member of the Audit Committee of Banco Único (2011–2015).

Since 2014, he has been a Non-Executive Director of Mz Betar Engineers and Consultants Lda. and a Director of the Intelec Holdings Group, with responsibilities in the areas of energy and telecommunications. Since 2021, he has also collaborated with Nova SBE as a guest instructor in Executive Management Programs in Mozambique.

Afonso Loureiro has been Portugal’s World Advisor since September 2025.
