Alain Bonte, born in 1943, is a Portuguese entrepreneur with a distinguished career in the financial and business sectors. He holds a degree in Economics from the University of Paris and an MBA from INSEAD. Alain began his professional journey working in several financial institutions in France before starting his investment activities in Portugal in 1984. Since then, he has founded and developed companies in areas such as real estate investment, and the pharmaceutical and parapharmaceutical sectors.

In 1998, Alain expanded his business operations to Romania during the wave of privatizations, working across real estate, healthcare, and technology sectors. He currently holds leadership positions in various companies in Portugal, Spain, and Romania.

Beyond his business pursuits, Alain Bonte is deeply engaged in cultural, social, and diplomatic initiatives. He serves as Honorary Consul of Romania in Estoril, President of the Romania–Portugal Bilateral Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and President of the Bonte Foundation for Modern and Contemporary Art. He is also a board member of the Fundatia Internationala pentru Copil si Familie and sits on the Board of Directors of the Friends of the National Museum of Art of Romania.

He is married to Isabel de Faria e Maia d’Aguiar and is the father of three children.

Alain Bonte has been Portugal’s World Advisor since May 2025.
