Artur Rebelo is a specialist in General and Visceral Surgery as well as Vascular Surgery, currently serving as a Senior Physician (Oberarzt). He is a Privatdozent (Associate Professor) of Surgery at the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg. He obtained his Habilitation (Privatdozent) in Surgery in Germany, a postdoctoral academic qualification equivalent to the level of a PhD that grants the right to teach independently at university level.

He earned his medical degree in Lisbon and completed his surgical training in Portugal, Italy, and Germany. He completed the Surgical Leadership Program at Harvard Medical School, obtained a Master of Health Business Administration (MHBA) from the Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nürnberg, and is currently completing a Master of Science in Clinical Research and Translational Medicine at Leipzig University.

He holds the European titles FEBVS (European Board of Vascular Surgery) and FEBS (Surgical Oncology), and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS). He is the author or co-author of approximately 58 scientific publications indexed in PubMed.

His clinical and scientific work focuses on complex gastrointestinal and hepatopancreatobiliary oncologic surgery, including multivisceral resections, robotic surgery, and vascular and endovascular techniques applied to oncologic surgery, particularly in locally advanced tumors with vascular involvement. He conducts research in oncologic surgery based on real-world clinical data, healthcare quality, and the integration of innovative surgical technologies.

He is a member of several German, European, and international scientific surgical associations, including the European-African Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association (E-AHPBA), the International Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association (IHPBA), and the European Pancreatic Club (EPC), participating in scientific councils and innovation groups within these organizations. He is also an active member of the German Association for Surgical Oncology (ACO-DGAV), where he leads the Early Career Group and developed the first structured mentoring program in surgical oncology in Germany.

He has completed international visiting observerships at leading reference centers, including Massachusetts General Hospital, Heidelberg University Hospital, and academic centers in Hangzhou. He regularly participates as a speaker at international scientific meetings, with recent presentations in Chicago, Miami, Singapore, and Germany.

He holds the European titles FEBVS (European Board of Vascular Surgery) and FEBS (Surgical Oncology), and is also a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS).
