Gilda da Conceição Santos is the Cultural Vice-President of the Study Center of the Real Gabinete Português de Leitura, where she created the Luso-Brazilian Research Center in 2001. She previously taught Portuguese Literature at the Faculdade de Letras/UFRJ..
Throughout her professional career, she has given more than a hundred lectures, conferences and communications at scientific meetings (in Rio de Janeiro, various Brazilian states, Portugal, Spain, France, Italy, England, Hungary…) focusing mainly on 20th century poetry (especially Jorge de Sena) and Luso-Brazilian themes.
Academically, Gilda has a PhD in Portuguese Literature from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro and completed her MA at the same university in 1980.
Gida Santos has been a member of the Portuguese Diaspora Council since October 2023.
