Joana Lobo Vicente is a specialist in chemicals, the environment and health at the European Environment Agency (EEA), a European Union institution based in Copenhagen. She works at the interface between science and public policy, leading European initiatives in the areas of human biomonitoring, indoor air quality and chemicals data. She promotes cooperation among national authorities, European and international institutions, scientific organisations and policymakers to support the protection of human health and the environment.
With more than fifteen years of international experience, she has built her career at the European Environment Agency, the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre (JRC), and King’s College London, where she completed her PhD in Analytical Chemistry. Throughout her career, she has coordinated European projects focused on health and the environment, human exposure to chemicals, and the translation of scientific knowledge into decision-making.

She is a founding member and the first President of SPOT Nordic (Association of Portuguese Professionals and Researchers in the Nordic Countries). Previously, she was a member of PARSUK (Portuguese Association of Researchers and Students in the United Kingdom), where she served as Chair of the Supervisory Board.

She believes in the strategic role of the Portuguese diaspora in building bridges between countries, institutions and sectors, fostering international collaboration, innovation and the recognition of Portuguese talent around the world.
