Graduated in Business Management from the Catholic University of Lisbon, he began his career in 1990 as a stockbroker, having a career in investment banking over the next 10 years, having been a member of the board of directors of two investment banks and also participating in the management of the Lisbon Stock Exchange. He worked at Grupo Santander, Grupo José de Mello and Grupo BCP.
He has resided in Poland since 2006, serving as director and elected chairman since 2013 of Bank Millennium, a leading Polish bank listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange.
In Poland he is a member of the board of directors of the Polish Association of Banks, President of the Poland Portugal Chamber of Commerce, member of the Advisory Board of Kozminski University and member of the “Polish Business Round Table”.
