João Brito Martins holds a degree in Economics from the Catholic University of Portugal and an MBA from IMD in Switzerland. He began his professional career as a consultant and joined the EDP Group in 2005.

Over nearly two decades, he has developed extensive experience in strategic marketing, planning and pricing, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), and internal consulting, with professional experience in Portugal, Spain, and Brazil.

In Brazil, he was responsible for the Innovation and Sustainability department until 2014, then served as Director of Strategy and Innovation from 2014 to 2016. From 2017 to 2020, he served as Distribution Director at EDP Espírito Santo, and from April 2020, as Vice President of Distribution at EDP Brasil.

He later joined the Board of Directors of E-REDES, an EDP Group company responsible for electricity distribution in Portugal. Since June 2025, he has served as CEO of EDP South America, leading the Group’s operations in Brazil and Chile.

João Brito Martins has been Portugal’s World Advisor since October 2025.
