João Camarão has over 20 years of experience in banking across more than 10 countries.

Until 2012, he worked in Portugal at various institutions, always in the area of risk management. He was also a trainer for seven years at the Banking Training Institute, part of the Portuguese Banking Association, where he taught courses on risk and financial markets.

From 2012 to 2020, he held positions at Qatar National Bank, where he served as a regional leader in the MENA region and was part of the Executive Committee in nine countries.

João also worked at several banks in Malta for two years, and before returning to the Middle East, he worked for a bank headquartered in Gibraltar.

João is currently based in Abu Dhabi, working in the executive risk division for the first digital bank in the United Arab Emirates.

João holds a degree in Mathematics from Universidade Nova de Lisboa and has completed several certifications and courses in risk management and technology.
