José is a partner in Private Equity at Goldman Sachs Asset Management and a member of the Asset Management Corporate Investment Committee.

Mr Barreto joined Goldman Sachs in 2008 as an associate in the Industrial Investment Banking team, receiving an appointment as a Managing Director in 2015 and then a partner in 2020.
Before joining Goldman Sachs, José Barreto worked at McKinsey & Company between 2004 and 2006. Previously, he worked as a computer scientist at the European Space Agency.
Academically, José obtained a master’s degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Coimbra in 2003 and an MBA in Finance from Columbia Business School in 2008.

José Barreto has been a Portuguese Diaspora Counsellor since 2023.
