Júlia Carvalho is IBM’s General Manager for Africa Growth Markets. She is responsible for all of IBM’s business operations in African countries, with the exception of South Africa and Egypt. With an emphasis on IBM’s strategic solutions and working with local business partners, the focus is on implementing IBM’s technology capabilities in AI and Hybrid Cloud, to support national strategic plans towards digital transformation across all market sectors in these countries.

Júlia has extensive experience in the IT and Energy industries, with over 20 years of international and regional management experience in Africa and Europe.

Júlia Carvalho has a PhD in Engineering from the Instituto Superior Técnico of the Universidade de Lisboa. She has completed several executive programs in Financial Management and Energy, at MIT Sloan Executive Education in the USA, and at the Catholic Lisbon School of Business & Economics in Portugal.

Júlia Carvalho has been a member of the Portuguese Diaspora Council since December 2023.
