Manuel Augusto da Costa was born in 1955 in Castelo do Neiva, Viana do Castelo, and emigrated to Canada in 1970. A successful entrepreneur, he is the President of Viana Roofing & Sheet Metal Ltd. as well as several other companies in the fields of construction, media, security, hospitality, and real estate management.

Founder of Camões Radio and President of the International Portuguese Music Awards (IPMA), he has also distinguished himself through his community involvement, notably in the creation of Camões Square, the Portuguese Pioneers Museum, and the Portuguese Canadian Walk of Fame.

He is a Commander of the Order of Merit of Portugal and serves as President of Magellan Charities, which is responsible for a long-term care project in Toronto.
