Maria da Paz Tierno Lopes is currently a partner in the Corporate and Mergers & Acquisitions practice at Demarest Advogados, one of the most prestigious law firms in Brazil and Latin America. She has extensive experience in providing legal advice on mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, commercial and corporate law, particularly in transactions involving companies with operations in Europe and Latin America.

She holds a law degree from Universidade Lusíada and an LL.M. in Banking, Corporate, and Financial Law from Fordham University School of Law (New York, USA).

After completing her LL.M., she worked at the New York and São Paulo offices of White & Case, one of the most respected American law firms, and from 2003 to 2018 at the Lisbon and São Paulo offices of Cuatrecasas, where she was a partner for eight years, co-leading the São Paulo office from 2011 to 2018, a strategic project for the firm.

Maria da Paz is a member of the Board of Directors and Chair of the Partners’ Committee at the Portuguese Chamber of Commerce in São Paulo.

Maria da Paz has been Portugal’s World Advisor since September 2025.
