Jorge Pessanha Viegas holds a degree in Economics from the Higher Institute of Economics, specializing in International Economic Relations. With a distinguished career in the energy sector and motorsports, he has established himself as a leading figure both nationally and internationally.

In the energy sector, he has served since 1990 as Country Manager of the RP Global Group, one of the pioneering renewable energy companies in Portugal, while also serving on the boards of several companies within the group. He has been a member of the board of APREN since 1991 and has held positions in organizations linked to the energy and water resources sectors, including the European Small Hydro Association, APRH, and APES.

In sport, he has served as President of the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM) since 2018 and President of the International Foundation for Motorcycling since 2020. He was a founding member of the Federação de Motociclismo de Portugal and the União Europeia de Motociclismo, and has held leadership roles within the Comité Olímpico de Portugal, the Autódromo do Estoril, and several national and international sports institutions.

Throughout his career, he has received several distinctions, including the Portuguese Government Sports Merit Medal, the Medal of Honor for Sports Merit, and the Gold Grade Merit Medal from the Municipality of Faro, in recognition of his contribution to sport and institutional development in Portugal.
