Sílvia Renda is the Chief Adviser and Head of Government Relations at the Australian Financial Complaints Authority (AFCA), with over 25 years of experience in financial dispute resolution, strategy, and public policy. She holds a degree in Legal Studies and a Master’s in Conflict Management and is a qualified mediator/conciliator.
In her current role, she advises the Chief Executive Officer and the Ombudsman, and leads engagement with the Australian Federal Government on behalf of AFCA. She has headed several multidisciplinary teams across areas such as data and analytics, policy, strategy, internal complaints, stakeholder engagement, and communications.
Sílvia is also a strong advocate for multiculturalism and community unity through meaningful civic engagement. In 2018, she was appointed Multicultural Commissioner by the Government of the State of Victoria, representing the Commission to both the government and multicultural communities. With more than 25 years of community leadership, she founded and chaired the Portuguese-Speaking Communities of Victoria for seven years. In 2018, she also founded and currently chairs the Association of Portuguese Women in Australia, which provides a support network for Portuguese-speaking women and promotes female leadership.
Sílvia has served as a member of the Conselho das Comunidades Portuguesas (Council of Portuguese Communities – CCP), an advisory body to the Portuguese government on matters concerning Portuguese communities abroad. She represented the CCP on Portugal’s Economic and Social Council, a constitutional body that advises the government on public policies. Silvia brings extensive experience and a strong track record of working with governments, diplomatic services, councils, and executive boards.
Sílvia Renda has been Portugal’s World Advisor since june 2025.
