Susana R Cerqueira is a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Bioengineering at Clemson University and President and Founder of Sete Luas Editions. She is on the Executive Committee of the Portuguese American Postgraduate Society (PAPS), the Communications and Marketing Committee of the National Neurotrauma Society (NNS), and is an International Mentor at the University of Minho. She has a diploma in Ballet Teaching Studies from the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD, London). Susana has a PhD in Regenerative Medicine, Tissue Engineering and Stem Cells from the University of Minho. Throughout her career she has collaborated with scientific research institutes in Europe (Portugal, Germany, Slovenia) and the United States. His research focuses on the study of neurological pathologies and the development of therapies for the treatment of neurotraumatic injuries, using nanotechnology and bioinformatics tools. Her work has been recognized internationally, with awards such as: Lone Star Paralysis Collaboration Award 2016, Woman in Neurotrauma Research VISA Award 2017, Lois Pope LIFE Fellowship Award 2019, among others.

Alongside her scientific work, she also works as a choreographer, editor and promoter of Portuguese literature in the USA. She is the creator and co-organizer of the event to promote Portuguese literature at the Miami Book Fair “A Night in Portugal”, which in 2023 was supported by FLAD, Instituto Camões and the Portuguese Embassy in the USA.

Susana Cerqueira has been member of the Portuguese Diaspora Council since February 2024.
