Inauguration of the Headquarters of the Portuguese Diaspora Council
His Excellency the President of the Republic inaugurated the Headquarters of the Portuguese Diaspora Council on October 22, 2022.
The Diaspora Council inaugurated its new headquarters in Cascais. The space is located in the Tardoz Building adjacent to the Town Hall and is part of the Strategic Collaboration Agreement signed last April.
In his opening speech, the Mayor of Cascais reiterated the institution’s commitment to supporting companies and associations of interest for the dynamism and impact created not only for Cascais, but also for the country. Carlos Carreiras praised the work carried out by Diáspora, wishing the greatest success in this new stage.
The President of the Republic took advantage of his speech to thank and praise the work carried out by the Mayor of Cascais and also thanked Dr. José Manuel Durão Barroso (Chairman of the General Assembly of the Council) for his fundamental role in supporting and boosting the Portuguese Diaspora and for his strategic vision regarding the new stage in progress. He also took the opportunity to highlight the current dynamism of the Board of Directors of the Diaspora, recalling some of the great challenges and wishing the greatest successes for the future.
The event was attended by His Excellency, the President of the Republic, Professor Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, the President of Cascais City Council, Dr. Carlos Carreiras, the Secretary of State for Internationalization, Dr. Bernardo Ivo Cruz, the Chairman of the Board of the General Assembly of the Diaspora Council, Dr. José Manuel Durão Barroso and the Chairman of the Board, António Calçada de Sá, among several other individuals, members of the Portuguese Diaspora around the world, members of the Advisory Board, and guests.
