António Calçada de Sá is currently Managing Director and Vice President of Fundación Repsol, where he is primarily responsible for the development and execution of projects and new ventures related to the low-carbon new economy and social impact. All these initiatives complement and strengthen the company’s corporate responsibility and its commitment to ESG strategy.
Until January 2019, António Calçada de Sá was a member of the Downstream Executive Committee, CEO of Repsol Comercial (RCPP), Chairman of Repsol Portugal, Chairman of Air Miles, and a board member of several companies within the Repsol Group (Petrocat, Canary Terminals, and Gespevesa). As an Executive Director of the Repsol Group, he led Retail, Distribution, Commercial, and Marketing businesses for many years across several countries, including Spain, Portugal, Italy, Peru, and Mexico.
Previously, he led retail and commercial operations in Brazil and Argentina, which has given him a broad perspective on markets and cultures across Europe and the Americas, with a particular focus on Latin America.
António Calçada de Sá began his career in the 1980s at the American multinational Exxon, where he worked across various sectors and markets (Spain, Portugal, Italy, and North Africa), ranging from chemicals and petrochemicals to fuels and lubricants.
He is currently the President of the Portuguese Chamber of Commerce in Spain, and in 2012 he received the “Iberian Manager of the Year” award granted by the Portuguese-Spanish Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Lisbon. In 2014, he was decorated by the President of the Portuguese Republic, Professor Aníbal Cavaco Silva, with the Order of Prince Henry (“Ordem do Infante D. Henrique”) at the rank of Commander, in recognition of his services to Portugal as both a citizen and a Repsol executive.
António Calçada de Sá holds a degree in Chemical Engineering (Industrial specialization) from Instituto Superior Técnico (IST) in Lisbon. He later earned an MBA from IE Business School in Madrid and completed executive education in Corporate Resource Management at IMD in Lausanne, Switzerland.
He is one of the founders of the Portuguese Diaspora Council and has been a member since 2012. He currently serves as President of the Board of the Portuguese Diaspora Council.
In 2025, António Calçada de Sá was awarded the Grand Cross of the Order of Merit by the President of the Portuguese Republic, Professor Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, in recognition of his work as President of the Board of the Portuguese Diaspora Council, a position he has held since 2021.
