Carlos Leiria Pinto is Country Manager for Brazil of IFC – International Finance Corporation, a member of the World Bank Group and the world’s largest development institution focused on the private sector in emerging markets. IFC’s investment portfolio in Brazil has reached US$ 7 billion, making it the bank’s largest investment program worldwide.

Before joining IFC as Country Manager for Brazil in April 2020, he served as an executive member of the Board of Directors of Banco Montepio and Chairman of Montepio Valor in Portugal. In his more than thirty years of management and financial market experience, Carlos has also worked in the areas of investment banking, private equity, project finance and public-private partnerships, in Brazil and Portugal, in various organizations, including Santander, BNP-Paribas and Commerzbank.

Born in Portugal, Carlos has a degree in Civil Engineering from Instituto Superior Técnico and an MBA from Universidade Nova Lisboa.

Carlos Leiria Pinto has been a member of the Portuguese Diaspora Council since December 2023.
