Fernando Guerra Alves is a professional with more than 10 years’ experience in the field of international business. As Director of the Industry and Technology Department at Business France in Australia, Fernando leads a team of 6 trade and investment specialists. His focus is to facilitate export and investment opportunities for companies in the Australian market, covering key sectors such as: space, defense, advanced manufacturing, energy, fintech and cybersecurity.

Additionally, Fernando holds the position of Deputy Regional Director for Asia Pacific (APAC) within the Industry Sector, where he oversees strategic operations in Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore for Business France. Fernando has successfully led numerous trade delegations and individual projects, culminating in trade and investment opportunities for industry sectors in Australia. Fernando’s main focus has been advising startups and Fortune 500 companies with their international development. Throughout this involvement, Fernando has assisted more than 250 companies to establish themselves and do business in Australia.

Fernando’s previous experience includes working in the automotive sector in Argentina and Brazil. Fernando was also one of the first employees to establish the startup Deliveroo in Australia in 2015. Fernando is also a Guest Lecturer at the University of Sydney, Australia’s oldest university, often ranked in the top 50 universities in the world by several major rating systems. He also teaches international trade and global business to master’s degree students. Since he was young, he has lived, studied and worked in France, England and has been in Australia since 2014.

Academically, he holds a Master’s degree in Management and Commerce from the University of Sydney, Australia.

Fernando Guerra Alves has been a member of the Portuguese Diaspora Council since April 2024.
