With more than twenty years of experience in the financial sector, Pedro Paulo Castro is currently Vice-President of the financial area of ​​Santander Consumer Finance in Spain, where he accumulates global responsibility for the areas of treasury, capital markets (DCM) and investor relations; supporting the implementation of the financing and capital plans of 34 subsidiaries in 18 countries, with assets of 125 billion euros.
Previously, he held executive positions at Banque PSA Finance in the United Kingdom and France, where, acting as CFO, he was responsible for the development of the credit securitization and EMTN programs, the implementation of significant risk transfer (SRT) operations and the restructuring of the digital platform DISTINGO, where it raised 3 billion euros in online deposits.
Previously, as Chief Financial Officer of Santander Consumer Finance in Portugal, he worked actively in M&A, having contributed to the acquisition of Interbanco S.A. in 2007, until then held by Grupo SAG and BCP. In the early stages of his career, he served as an Auditor at Arthur Andersen and Head of Financial Planning and Analysis at GE Capital, where he was awarded Best European Employee in 2001.
Degree in Economics from Universidade Lusíada de Lisboa, postgraduate degree in Corporate Finance from ISCTE Business School, Master in Finance from Católica-Lisbon School of Business & Economics and participant in the Senior Executive Program of the London Business School.
Married, father of two daughters, he is also the author of the book Vontade de Ferro and founder of Run with Castro, a non-profit organization that supports social solidarity institutions through sport.
Castro has been a member of the Portuguese Diaspora Council since December 2022.
