The Portuguese Diaspora Council hosted the 1st Annual Meeting on December 23, 2013, at Palácio da Cidadela, in Cascais, with debate themes about alternative financing and smart mobility.

The 1st Annual Meeting of the Portuguese Diaspora Council had the following debate themes:

1. Is Portugal Ready?, with the Diaspora Counselors Ana Miranda, Carlos Silva Lopes, David Lopes and Ricardo Monteiro, as speakers.
2. Economic Alternative Financing, with the Diaspora Counselors António Simões, Altina Gonzalez, António Horta Osório, António Viana Baptista and Sérgio Rebelo, as speakers.
3. Smart Mobility on Green Economy, with the Diaspora Counselors Carlos Tavares, Luís Pais Correia and Miguel Fonseca.

The opening session was addressed by the President of the Board of the Portuguese Diaspora Council, Filipe de Botton, and the closing session was addressed by the former President of the Portuguese Republic and Honorary President of the Portuguese Diaspora Council, Aníbal Cavaco Silva.
