Portuguese Diaspora Council Welcomes Secretary of State for Portuguese Communities at Meeting with US Regional Council Members

Yesterday, 12 October, the Portuguese Diaspora Council had the honour of welcoming the Secretary of State for Portuguese Communities, Emídio Sousa, to the regular meeting of the Council Members of its United States Regional Hub.

The conversation, moderated by Regional Coordinator Ana Miranda, featured remarks by the Secretary of State, followed by a Q&A session, fostering an atmosphere of open dialogue and the exchange of perspectives.

Among the topics discussed were the Portugal Nação Global initiative and the importance of monitoring the development of Portuguese communities in emerging destinations, particularly in the Nordic countries. The discussion also addressed the role of economic diplomacy and the importance of strengthening Portugal’s diplomatic representation in the southern United States.

The meeting provided an opportunity to strengthen ties between the Portuguese Government and the Diaspora Council Members, encourage the sharing of experiences and perspectives, and identify new opportunities for collaboration in support of Portuguese communities around the world.

The Portuguese Diaspora Council extends its gratitude to the Secretary of State for his availability and participation in this discussion.
