Portugal considered the “Best Sustainable Destination in Europe”

There are eight concrete reasons that placed Portugal on the peak of the European sustainable destinations, a distinction attributed during the ITB Berlim, considered the main International Tourism Fare.

Portugal was considered, for the first time, the “Best Sustainable Destination in Europe”. “This is one more appealing fact to promote Portugal in a market that values the sustainable destinations. It’s fantastic in terms of international sustainability.” – Ana Mendes Godinho, Secretary of State for Tourism.

The awards are regarding 2018, although they figure with the date of 2019, the “Green Destinations” have highlighted on the national territory eight places, eight secrets that are behind Portugal’s success on this international tourism storefront: Águeda, Região Oeste, Açores, Cascais, Lagos, Sintra, Torres Vedras e Alto Minho (Comunidade Intermunicipal do Minho-Lima).

The destinations were selected by an international jury on the bases of the global sustainability and in specific successful histories.
